Groups
Building Minds Psychology offers a range of therapeutic groups to the young person and parenting groups for parents.
LEGO-based therapy group
LEGO-Based therapy for children and adolescents with autism and related social communication skills problems. This group is highly structured and uses children’s own natural
interests in LEGO to promote social communication skills and play with fellow peers. We welcome keen LEGO Builders between the ages of 8 and 14 years old. Groups are run for 8 weeks. Research shows that children and adolescents who
attend LEGO-based therapy make improvements in social skills, play and emotional wellbeing and more likely to generalise these skills to other settings. Groups are being run at the Psychology Group in Howick, East
Auckland and at Totally Psyched! In Takapuna, North Shore. Dr Camilla Nguyen facilitates in both these places. Please register your interests for the next group intake.

well as strategies on how to best support a young person on the autism spectrum at home and in the community. We are offering a 5-week workshop, including: a better understanding of autism, strategies to develop better social
interaction and communication with a young person on the autism spectrum, dealing with sensory difficulties and anxiety problems, and how to manage behavioural difficulties. This parenting workshop is ideal for parents who has a
